Methodology

Index Construction

The Lehigh University PA 100 Index is constructed using the Free-Float Market-Capitalization Method. This method calculates the market value of a company by multiplying the current market price per share with the total number of shares available for trading (number of free-floating shares). By using the free-floating market capitalization value, the number of shares held by insiders or other entities that are not available for trading on the open market is taken into account implicitly. By using this method, we are able to accurately track the value of the top 100 publicly traded companies in Pennsylvania and provide investors with a comprehensive view of the state's economic trends.

Selection Criteria

To be included in the Lehigh University PA 100 Index, companies must meet certain criteria. First, the company must be publicly traded and headquartered in Pennsylvania. Additionally, the company must be included in the iShares Russell 3000 ETF, which uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative factors to evaluate potential index constituents, including revenue growth, earnings per share, and industry trends.
